What Is Vishu?
An event for friends and families alike, Symbolizing equipoise and harmony, Vishu festival is considered as the astrological New Year day of Keralites.
The festival Vishu (which is also spelled as Viṣu) is observed along as the spring festival by Malayali and other south Indian Communities, especially in Kerala and in adjacent areas of Tamil Nadu, India. Vishu with its meaning in Sanskrit says “equal” celebrates the day of vernal equinox, when the day and night are roughly equal length.
And these beautiful flowers, widely known in South India by the name Vishu Kani Konna or Golden Shower Tree. It is also known as Indian laburnum and Cassia Laburnum. For every Keralite the view of Kani Konna that specially flowers in bunch during this season is a matter of nostalgia along with the taste of Vishu special menu seasonal delights.
